The North Fork Valley has it all! For the cyclist, endless country roads stretching from the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, to the high mesas above the North Fork Valley. Mountain bikers will enjoy technical single track at Jumbo Mountain, Sidewinder Trail, and Crossroads Trails. Hikers can enjoy Jumbo, Black Canyon trails, and the numerous BLM access points too! This year the water is too low, so we will skip telling you about the fishing and floating options. You’ll have to come back to enjoy that another time!
NOTE: Deer and elk archery, and bear rifle season ends Sept 30th. Then elk rifle season starts October 14th. Be aware! -
The North Fork Valley has been home to farms, ranches, and orchards as far back as 1883. The Valley now hosts a higher concentration of organic farms and orchards than anywhere else in the nation. That is part of why we love it so much! Some have roadside farm stands, others have order online options, and some may be closed starting in October. Check their websites or give a call, hours start to vary in October. Unfortunately the area’s fruit was hit hard by a late frost this season, so pickin’s might be slim come October.

Recently named #2 best wine region in the United States in the USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice Awards, West Elks AVA is noted for its production of white wines. Riesling and Gewurztraminer grow extremely well here as does Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Here they produce some terrific wines. The high elevation and low humidity coupled with cool nights help retain a high degree of acidity as the grapes ripen. In addition to Mesa Winds Farm + Winery where our receptions is taking place, check out the other local wineries!
